Tooth Extraction: Professional and Painless Service

We always aim to save the tooth and prevent it from future infection. However, in certain cases where a tooth may be too damaged or too loose to be saved, extraction may be required.

Reasons for a tooth extraction

  • Decay has reached deep into the tooth
  • The infection has destroyed a large portion of the tooth or the surrounding bone
  • There is not enough room for all the teeth in your mouth ( wisdom teeth)
  • To make room for teeth moved with orthodontic treatment

Firstly, we will always take an X-ray of the area to determine the best way to extract the tooth and the appropriate anesthetic technique required to ensure your comfort and care. When your extraction is complete, Dr. Dung and our receptionists will give you guidance on what to do at home. It is important that you closely follow the post-extraction aftercare instructions to promote a healthy recovery.

Extraction and immediate Bone grafting (preservation socket):
After tooth extraction, the alveolar bone dimension changes. With approximately 50% resorption of the alveolar width and height is commonly seen and this resorption takes place within the first three months after the extraction.

*Bone resorption problems when bridge restoration is the goal

  • Gap between bridge  pontic and the gum
  • Impaired phonetics
  • Impaired aesthetics
  • Hygiene problems

* Bone resorption problems when implant placement is the goal

  • Insufficient available bone for implant placement
  • Need for subsequent invasive GBR treatment
